The show at Domingos Niu was quite excellent, full room, and ourselves quite happy with the musical result after all of the effort put in over the previous month. Wonky Trio was proceeded by a live set by Yarmark (one of my projects), and there was also a good response too that too. This night was curated by The Family Step, a collective of which the three of us began collaborting together with, so quite a "family" atmosphere that evening. Unfortunately no recording because I forgot to push the red button on the MiniDisc.
The show at Freedonia on Wednesday the 1st was pretty scarce on people, bascially just our friends, a bit of a private party vibe, and we took advantage of that fact to have some fun. Niño´s set was great as usual, including some of his classic trax such as those on the 3D Ep, as well as some material from the Pendrive release, but then ending with some of his new DubSteppish stuff. We definitely expect to be working with him more in the future.
Finally, the show with Thavius Beck was really great for everyone. We all got warmed up by the exestentialist nintendoness of Subatak, a really interesting thing those guys are doing, including a visual game element which gives an interactive aspect for the public to watch. In our set we definitely had a lot of fun, wrapping it up with an impromptu jam. Thavius threw down an awesome, awesome set. Im very excited for his releases coming up next year.... Won´t say any more about that, I´ll let him do the talking on that front. The next day we hung out a bit and I got a private demo of the new new Novation Ultranova synth. It has a few interesting features that you won´t find on any other piece of hardware, like the touch-sensitivtiy of the parameter control knobs. Anyway the other guys weren´t with us that evening so they don´t appear in this nice photo.
